Van De Wege lands Resources, Energy, and key budget postsDecember 15, 2006 SEQUIM – State House Democrats yesterday chose State Rep.-elect Kevin Van De Wege (D-Sequim) for the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. Van De Wege represents the 24th District and expects to be an important voice in the group. “Our communities rely heavily on our resources and having local representation on wildlife, water and timber issues is a big win for the district,” Van De Wege said. Van De Wege will also work on the state’s budget through the new powerful Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and Audit Review. “I’m looking forward to helping craft a responsible state budget that helps working families,” Van De Wege said, “it’s an honor to work immediately in this subcommittee that can really increase good paying jobs and keep property taxes under control.” A third of Van De Wege’s committee time will be spent in Technology, Energy and Communications. “There are so many benefits from the work being done on biodiesel and renewable energy, but on the job front alone we’re making huge gains.” Van De Wege said. “And I fully intend to work to bring even more energy-related jobs here in the future.” “Energy isn’t just my passion, it’s a great issue for Grays Harbor and the Olympic Peninsula to build on.” # # # For more information: State Rep.-elect Kevin Van De Wege, 24th LD, (360) 477-0548 Staff contact: Andrew Dziedzic, (360) 786-7218
