2008 Committees
Ecology and Parks - Chair
The House Ecology and
Parks Committee considers issues relating to climate change, aquatic
lands, parks and recreation, the State Environmental Policy Act, and
pollution prevention issues associated with subjects as oil spills and
cruise ships. The committee also oversees the Puget Sound Partnership’s
activities in Puget Sound and Hood Canal.
Capital Budget
The House Capital Budget Committee considers the state capital
budget which approves money for the construction and repair of public
buildings and for other long-term investments, such as land acquisitions
and transfers. The capital budget also includes state money that is
either given or lent to local governments or nonprofit organizations for
infrastructure, housing, and cultural and heritage facilities. The
committee also considers legislation that authorizes state debt and
legislation that affects state buildings and land.
Transportation
The House Transportation Committee considers the transportation
budget, revenue sources for transportation funding, and issues relating
to transportation policy and transportation agencies, including the
Department of Transportation and the Washington State Patrol.
Washington State Climate Action Team -- House Democratic Caucus
Representative
In 2007, the Climate Advisory Team elevated Washington’s work on
climate change to a new level by collectively looking across the breadth
of issues and articulating a broad response to the challenge of climate
change. The Climate Advisory team is comprised of lawmakers,
business leaders and climate experts to identify ways Washington State
can fight climate change.
