2009 Committees

Audit Review & Oversight, Chair
The Committee on Audit Review and Oversight conducts reviews of performance and fiscal audits. Committee meetings are slated for the 2009 interim.

Health & Human Services Appropriations
The House Health & Human Services Appropriations Committee considers issues relating to the funding of health and human services agencies and makes funding recommendations to the Ways and Means Committee. In addition, the committee considers bills relating to health and human services with limited fiscal impact.

Local Government & Housing
The House Local Government and Housing Committee considers issues relating to the operations and financing of counties, cities, and special districts (other than school districts). The committee also considers issues relating to the Growth Management Act and related land use issues, such as local permitting, the subdivision of property, and property rights. Housing issues considered by the committee include the accessibility and affordability of housing, state assistance to low-income housing, manufactured housing and mobile homes, housing authorities and the Housing Finance Commission.

State Government and Tribal Affairs
The House State Government and Tribal Affairs Committee considers issues relating to the processes of government, including state agency rule-making, state government reorganization, election laws, public disclosure, campaign reform, ethics laws, various public employee laws, and certain state agencies and the offices of elected state officials that are not under the purview of another committee. The committee also considers issues relating to veterans and the government-to-government relationship of the state and Indian tribes.

Legislative Evaluation and Accountability Program Committee (LEAP)
The LEAP Committee serves as the Legislature's independent source of information and technology for developing budgets, communicating budget decisions, tracking budget and revenue activity, consulting with legislative committees, and providing analysis on special issues in support of legislative needs.
