Liz Loomis appointed to represent the 44th District January 8, 2008 OLYMPIA – Liz Loomis of Snohomish has been selected to fill the vacant House seat, representing the 44th District, which covers Everett, Snohomish, Mill Creek and Lake Stevens. Loomis, who has been a member of the Snohomish City Council and a mayor of the town, was appointed to a position that was previously held by Speaker Pro Tem John Lovick (D-Mill Creek). “I am elated and honored to take this position,” said Loomis. “As a longtime resident of Snohomish, I feel confident that I will be able to represent the community that has, over the years, become part of my family.” In addition to voicing the concerns of the 44th District, Loomis has also been appointed to several committees within the House: * Agriculture and Natural Resources * Insurance, Financial Services, and Consumer Protection; and * Transportation. “I think that I will do what I can and keep the values of my community in tact with these committees,” said Loomis, who also operated a public affairs firm working with local businesses. “Obviously, agriculture is a significant part of Snohomish County and we want to make sure that the farmers are heard just as loudly as anybody else.” As the 2008 Session begins to gear up, Loomis finds herself well-prepared and ready to join the fray in Olympia. “I’m excited to get down to business out here,” said Loomis. “I feel like we’ve got a good group of people in Olympia and I think that during this session we can really make some decisions that will leave an indelible mark.”
