Marko Liias has been appointed to the Washington State House of Representatives to the seat recently vacated by Brian Sullivan, who won his race for the Snohomish County Council.
Prior to being appointed to the House, Mr. Liias served on the Mukilteo City Council, having been elected in 2005.
Liias is a graduate of Kamiak High School; has a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in Washington, DC; and is currently finishing a Master of Public Administration with the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington.

His community involvement includes chairing the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce. Liias serves as a national board member on the National Association of Homebuilders, is a member of the Master Builders’ Association of King and Snohomish Counties and a member of BuiltGreen of Snohomish Counties. He also volunteers as the assistant debate coach for the Kamiak High School Debate Team.
Representative Liias will serve on the Education, Housing, and State Government & Tribal Affairs committees.
