Janssen serves as legislative page March 26, 2007 OLYMPIA — There's an easy way for high school students to learn about democracy: Go to the state Legislature in Olympia and see it first-hand. Since 1891, students have come from across the state to serve as pages in the Senate and House of Representatives. Recently, Lukas Janssen of Port Townsend spent a week serving as a page for Rep. Lynn Kessler. Lukas, 14, is the son of Claus and Teresa Janssen. He is an eight-grade student at Port Townsend Middle School. “The page program is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about our legislative system,” said Rep.
