Dayton twins serve as legislative pagesMarch 30, 2007 OLYMPIA — There's an easy way for high school students to learn about democracy: Go to the State Legislature in Olympia and see it first-hand. Since 1891, students have come from across the state to serve as pages in the Senate and House of Representatives. Recently, Grace and Thomas Lyman of Dayton spent a week serving as pages for Rep. Bill Grant. Grace and Thomas, age 16, are the children of Karen Lyman. They are tenth-grade students at Dayton High School. “I am happy to have shared a little piece of the legislative process with Grace and Thomas,” said Rep. Grant. “My hope is that young people like them, who serve as pages in Olympia, stay involved and interested in politics.”
