Bill Eickmeyer, D-Belfair, who is a member of the House Capital Budget Committee that first launched the budget earlier this year. “We will receive appropriations in the capital budget to address projects that will have positive, far-reaching outcomes for our district residents,” Eickmeyer said. He explained that the $53 million worth of capital projects in the district are critically important in terms of strengthening the region’s infrastructure, “which is absolutely crucial when it comes to attracting and keeping new business development for our communities.” Belfair stands to get $10.3 million in sewer-improvement money. The downtown Bremerton revitalization project will receive $5 million for continuing work on the Harborside Fountain Park, the Heritage Museum, the memorial, and the First Street Plaza. Bremerton’s Harborside Commons project is also advanced in the state’s new capital budget. Eickmeyer added that the Grays Harbor Satsop Development Park is receiving $5 million in capital-budget funds for renovation of 370,000 square feet in the administration building and turbine hall. “We’re talking about more than 370 construction jobs and 70 ongoing jobs at the Satsop Development Park,” Eickmeyer said. Also in the capital budget, the Turning Pointe Domestic Violence Shelter in Shelton will receive $700,000. “The projects funded in this new capital budget are essential both in terms of what they do to improve our overall infrastructure and in terms of what they do to provide family-wage jobs for hundreds of citizens who live in our towns.” Eickmeyer pointed out that Olympic Community College in Bremerton will receive $37 million for building and infrastructure projects. ### Capital Budget 35th Legislative District Department of Community, Trade & Economic Development * Grays Harbor PDA Satsop Development Park Turbine/Administration Building Improvements -- $5,053,048 * Belfair sewer improvements -- $10,300,000 * Bremerton Downtown Economic Revitalization Projects -- $5,000,000 * Turning Pointe Domestic Violence Shelter -- $700,000 Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation * Chico Estuary Acquisition -- $160,000 * Belfair Estuary Restoration -- $500,000 * McLane Creek Nature Trail -- $71,962 * Stavis NRCA / Kitsap Forest -- $1,887,960 * Decker Creek Riparian Conservation -- $693,925 * Stavis NRCA Riparian 2006 -- $944,580 * Skookum Riparian Protection -- $952,500 * Lower Union River Estuary Acquisition -- $1,935,950 Military Department * Washington Youth Academy -- $5,000,000 Department of Natural Resources * Kennedy Creek NAP (Facilities Pres. & Access) -- $40,000 Department of Corrections * 100-bed expansion at Mission Creek for Women -- $6,627,000 * Expand Reception Center at Washington Corrections Center -- $470,000 * Replace Fire Alarm System at Washington Corrections Center -- $1,524,000 * Replace G Building Roof at Washington Corrections Center -- $4,431,000 * Replace Roofs at Washington Corrections Center -- $6,666,000 State Parks and Recreation Commission * Belfair Major Park Upgrade -- $400,000 Total 35th Legislative District -- $53,357,925
